For over 50 years I have been witnessing the poverty-creation programme as it is carried out in Tower Hamlets. in fact, my observation of Tower Hamlets began even before this name was created. Even before Tower Hamlets existed. It was just after the start of 1961 that I began to do the paperwork for the then young underemployed villagers in Seelot [Sylhet in English is actually Seelot in the Seelotee language] who had desperately needed to escape. I was a one man campaign to implement that escape.  Fifty years later, I am still doing it. Observing the state of poverty. And today, Tuesday 10 January 2012 the news is the same. For me the most important item in the news is the confession that Tower Hamlets is blighted by the UK’s worst “chid poverty”.

I don’t agree with the phrase. But this is a point of detail. The main collective issue is that “Child poverty” is within the facts of poverty. And the fact that this aspect of poverty is admittedly in its worst form in the current Tower Hamlets population is proof once again that the “elected” postholders in the name of the people of and in Tower Hamlets have been participating in various miniature projects of lying. They do not admit that the borough is so blighted.

In fact their lie is carried out by exhibiting the fantasy that Tower Hamlets is doing very well. So poverty in Tower Hamlets is not limited to just material poverty. It is spiritual poverty as well  as moral, ethical and democratic poverty.  [To be continued]

Child poverty gap widening between Tory areas and the inner cities

A map of child poverty out today shows a widening gulf between youngsters in rural Tory and Lib Dem constituencies and inner-city areas.

A charity blamed the Coalition’s cuts for its failure to continue Labour’s work, which got 900,000 children out of poverty in 12 years.

The Campaign to End Child Poverty’s annual report called the Government’s approach worse than “unimpressive”.

It added: “Too much time has been spent on rhetorical debate and delays.”

David Cameron’s safe seat in Witney, Oxon, has just 7% child poverty, while Bethnal Green and Bow in East London has most, at 51%.

Manchester Central was worst in the North with 49% but Deputy PM Nick Clegg’s seat in Sheffield Hallam has 5% – the lowest in the UK.

The Campaign to End Child Poverty named Tower Hamlets in London as the local authority worst affected, with more than half (52%) of children there living in poverty, compared with the UK average of one in five.

London features heavily among the UK’s most deprived areas, with Islington, Hackney, Westminster and Camden all making the top 10 compilation of local authority areas enduring the biggest proportions of child poverty.

At least four in 10 children are in poverty in 19 parliamentary constituencies, the report found, while “serious concentrations” of deprivation were revealed at an even more local level, with between 50-70% of children facing poverty in 100 local wards.

Bethnal Green and Bow was named as the worst parliamentary constituency for child poverty.

The report said 89 constituencies already meet the Government’s headline target for 2020 by having child poverty rates of 10% or lower.

But it warned that tax and benefit changes outlined in the recent Autumn Statement showed the greater burden was being placed on the poorest, which “not only puts children’s wellbeing at risk, it carries economic risks too.

“Child poverty already costs the UK economy around £25 billion a year; any rise in child poverty will push up this cost.”

Campaign executive director Alison Garnham said: “The child poverty map paints a stark picture of a socially segregated Britain where the life chances of millions of children are damaged by poverty and inequality.

“But it also gives us reason for hope. The child poverty target has already been met in the Prime Minister’s constituency and nearly a hundred others, so never let it be said that the targets are impossible to meet. If we can do it in Witney today, we can do it in Hackney tomorrow.”

Ms Garnham continued: “Child poverty costs us billions picking up the pieces of damaged lives and unrealised potential, so it’s a false economy if we don’t prioritise looking after children today.

“Targeting cuts on families will prove both an economic and a social disaster, with businesses losing billions of pounds of demand and families struggling to keep their kids clothed, fed and warm.”

The Institute for Fiscal Studies recently warned that a couple with two children will be £1,250 a year worse off by 2015 as families “shoulder the burden of austerity”.

It has been predicted that the number of children in poverty before housing costs are taken into account could rise from 2.5 million in 2010/11 to 3.3 million by 2020/21.

The Child Poverty Map of the UK report said: “While it is fully accepted that the nation now faces incredible challenges reducing the deficit, this cannot excuse the regressive nature of the path the coalition has chosen.

“It is a political choice whether the cost of balancing the budget falls most heavily on the poorest or the wealthiest.”

The report used tax credit data to examine the proportion of children living in low income homes, also taking into account recent unemployment to estimate changes in the number of children who are sinking into poverty because their parents have lost their jobs.

Children were classed as in poverty if their family’s income fell below 60% of the median average income.

At below 60% of the average, families struggle to meet basic needs like food, heating, transport, clothing, school equipment and trips.

The report said: “The poverty line means that, after housing costs, all the household bills and family’s spending needs will need to be met by around £12 or less per family member per day.

“For many families, especially those reliant on out of work benefits, it can be substantially less.”

Editor © Muhammad Haque.  Today’s [Sunday] [Fleet Street] “papers”. And the “review” of the papers by Sky News and BBC News Channel.  The papers failed on the whole to report the world truthfully.

The failure was even worse in their coverage or emptiness on Britain.  So much injustice goes on daily in “society” that a representative list of the incidents of injustice alone would take up the major space in an average sized and depth of a newspaper.

Yet the papers don’t have the news of the injustice.

They have token items.

And with the OBSERVER [which has been Guardian-ed for years now] providing the sole  “potent” item for “contention” by carrying the allegedly angsty letter by “the bishops” about something they call “welfare”, the robotised participants in the “reviews” of the papers performed their ritual roles in making uhms and oohms about the subject. Except the more directly programmed ones who are operated by the many unseen secret agencies that really carry the powers to determine which way society falls or fails.

So where do you begin to prove how wrong the peddlers posing as preachers are! Where? How long will the task take to complete a semblance of an introduction to the dissection of the lies? And of the liars?

Socrates vs. Martin Sorrell

This is a most ironic pair of names.

Socrates vs Sorrell.

Socrates is of course Greek.

And rendered totally defunct.

So much so that even the morally challenged and the ethically bankrupt likes of France’s Sarkozy don’t hesitate before berating the Greeks.

Yet Greece still has a lot to teach.

And the teachings of Greece that can be traced back to Socrates are worth more than all the trillions that a truly bankrupt “role model” like Martin Sorrell can begin to be able to even count.

Executive pay

Sorrell this morning [in the past 25 minutes] has been shouting at TV news programme presenters.

First he shouted at Sky News presenter Mark Longhurst. A few minutes later he popped up on BBC News Channel, shouting at news presenter Simon McCoy.

On the BBC News Channel, McCoy was not able to complete his attempts at quizzing the morality free Sorrell as the weather slot came on minutes before 0900 Hrs local time [0800 GMT].

Sorrell had managed to smugly boast that in the previous fifteen years he had not taken advantage of any of the options that were available to him.

By “options” he means craftily the many OTHER ways that he could pocket loadsofcash.

He need not have bothered with that qualifier.

Accordnmg to the most recenmt set of calculatons,. Soirrell is still floationg on a fortune at leats around £100million.

Contast him with Socrates.

None of the latter’s styduients could cite a single saum of moinye that Socrates ever “earned”.

Not in any way that Sorrell would recgbnsie.

Socrates was about the riches of the kind that Sorell would not udneratnd.

Despite all the laurels and awards and validfayons that Sorrell carries with him, he has not sjhown the slighrst abilioty far less willingness to udnertand morality. Not in the way that Socrartes dide. Or does.

For Socrates is teacvhing even now. Nearly two and a half thsoaund years after he phsycally died.

Can Soirrell even outlast the last TV slot in which he made an appearance?

1225 [1200] [1150] [1134] GMT London Saturday 03 September 2011<br> © Muhammad Haque diagnosing David Cameron and exposing the shallowness that Brian Paddick has embarked on in his latest “bid” to enter ‘The Onion” in the name of the ordinary people in London.<br><br>    Brian Paddick has not said a single original thing in his “new” appearance on the ‘London stage’. <br> During his last “outing” four years ago as a London Onion-candidate, I had made express points of arguing for him. <br> But I found in time that he was “unaware” of or was playing being in denial about the crucial ethical, democratic and constitutional law  requirement that I had placed on the record for him to meet: that he had to show he was consistent and that he was genuinely independent minded and that he was courageous on principle. <br> Paddick failed on all counts as he caved in dutifully to the secret forces that were in control of the practices and the roles of the Lib Dem Party at that time and so Paddick stopped condemning the Big Biz agenda scam Crossrail which had been the main point of reference that had drawn my initial attention to his then utterances. <br> In the item that I am here commenting on, Paddick is delivering another version of spin about ‘targeting and zeroing in on identified families’ that David Cameron has been uttering, in the wake of the “oxygen-of-publicity” [Maggie Thatcher] he was handed by the MIC operators who successfully dodged the real questions  that arose at Tottenham just a month ago this weekend,  and gave Cameron the twisted  excuse to attack Society even more contemptuously and falsely  than he had the legitimacy to do previously.<br>  . BOTH Cameron and Paddick are way off reality. <br> Neither Cameron as Prime Minister nor Paddick as a potential, or, rather, wannabe London ’mayor’ can deliver anything without the democratic and the accountable and fairness-delivering framework of  and infrastructure for Society being in place. <br> On that vitally defined ‘service’  Cameron and Paddick are, significantly, silent as they “deal with gangs, gangsters” and “broken families’!<br>  Jokers is not the word to be used about Cameron and Paddick in this context. <br> Fakers almost is. First KHOODEELAAR! commentary  By © Muhammad Haque on the poverty of UK Parliament in light of the McNulty Report [1]

The two words: McNulty Report! They conjure up a neat scenario translated as follows: Could this be related to anything another McNulty [Tony McNulty who was at the UK Transport Dept when Alistair Darling was the Secretary of State at ‘the Daft!’ ] had said about transport in London as at the time adequately prominently and almost accurately reported by the [twice-weekly printed] ‘South London Press’?
If it could be related then whatever THEN happened to the aforesaid Tony McNulty who mysteriously [!!!!] got derailed so publicly [albeit years later] and thus was unable to deliver on the promises that he had made at the start?
The word knitting [as used by the reporter on the London EVENING STANDARD, as a joke and in irony] may also be extrapolated to contain the superfluity of today’s untruths that are being issued by the same Daft stooges of Big Biz contractors.
The truth is that the abysmal transport experience that people have in the UK is mainly to do with the abysmal standard of Parliament that we have here.
Refer back to the events on the floor of the House of Commons on 19 July 2005 and you will see the list of utterers of untruths who vied with one another to be seen as the most shameless suckers up to the hidden hands that were setting the promotional plug for the Crossrail scam that the stooged ‘MPs’ were ‘debating’ !!!! Read what they uttered then and you will see just how corrupt the proceedings can be. Those braying MPs were NOT on this planet.
Of course that was a good five years before the full extent of the thefts and dishonesty by MPs [in a long while] was at least begun to be admitted [via those ‘revelations’ called ‘expenses’] as a notion!
So what is the excuse now for allowing lies to be uttered by MPs for Big Business and similar interests that continue to deny the public a decent accountable Parliament?
In our view, MPs will NEVER tell the truth if telling the truth is a moral matter.
They will tell; anything, mostly lies, if that will suit them!
The gap remains as wide between the need for having a truthful Parliament and the reality of a zombified electorate or a zombified electoral system that makes sure that we have SUCCESSIONS of liars in place[s] as elected holders of “democratic posts”! CONTRADICTIONS eternally confounded

Brief update and introduction to how Ken Livingstone volunteered his own opposition to the campaign by Asian, Muslim, black governors of a school in Stratford, in 1992:

Sarah Boseley’s by-lined piece was a targeted attack on the London Collective of Black Governors [LCBG] .

Its elected Secretary: No prizes for guessing, the very same Muhammad Haque.

The Guardian piece was a symbol of the opposition to the governors that the Guardian and the OBSERVER were mobilising.

When Sarah Basally rang up Muhammad Haque a few days before publishing e piece, 1992, she made a solemn undertaking that she would not distort the result. That she would not make up anything. That she would not lie.

Which is exactly what she did.

She broke her vows. And she lied., and she distorted

What is more, when the piece appeared, it was NOT about the Stratford School – which had been the subject of her ‘interview’, but a personal attack on  Muhammad Haque!

And who had she enlisted to ‘give the appearance’ of validity to the attack?

Why Ken Livingstone, MP for Brent, east and former Leader of the Greater London Council.

Why Neil Fletcher, former leader of the Inner London Education Authority!

Why the former Chairman of the Commission for Racial equality !

That was just over  16 years  ago .

In the intervening 16 years, Ken Livingstone has not made one comment about education, far less about inner cities education. Let alone about the educational rights of the general African and Asian communities in the overall London population. or in the UK population.  Or indeed about the white inner city people!

Until yesterday Wednesday 30 April on  the eve of the polling day. And where does he do that? IN Stratford… The place where he is least entitled to make that totally dishonest and racist  patronising ‘pledge’!
